1-year Fixed-Term Post 

UCC wishes to appoint a scholar of distinction to the 1-year Fixed-Term position of Lecturer in Popular Music Studies. Reporting to the Head of the Department of Music, the Lecturer in Popular Music Studies will make a key contribution to teaching and research in the areas of musicology and popular music studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  Teaching and research specializations might include, but need not be limited to cultural history, critical theory, media studies, postcolonial studies, intersectional race and gender theory, music industry studies, archive-centred approaches, ethnography, jazz studies, sound studies, or ludomusicology. 

It is expected that the appointee will have a record of innovative scholarship, a strong publication profile, and/or successful funding applications. She or he will be dedicated to achieving excellence as a university teacher, at all levels. Further, the successful candidate will ideally have experience in external and community engagement, for instance through an active record of performance or other research-led outreach.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar Salary Scale: Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €37,912 – €66,429 (Scale B) / €39,939 – €63,211 (Scale A). Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
